Forward Charlie Sheringham’s season is over, according to Ebbsfleet boss Jamie Day.

The 26-year-old scored 10 goals in 22 games during the first half of the season but last featured as a substitute in the 4-0 win at Maidenhead in December.

Sheringham had a groin operation before the turn of the year but he now needs a hip injection, which will sideline him until next season.

Day said: “As far as I’m aware, he needs an injection which will keep him out for eight weeks.

“He was injured when I came in and has not trained since I’ve been here.

“We’re hoping that the injection will help and it’s about Charlie getting himself fit in pre-season.”
