Ebbsfleet United boss Daryl McMahon expects Saturday's opponents Maidenhead United to challenge for the play-offs

Ebbsfleet have made it through August unbeaten but now they face another side being tipped for promotion in National League South.

Maidenhead United are the visitors to Stonebridge Road on Saturday, knowing a win would lift them above Fleet.

But the home side, who are looking to make it seven matches without defeat, go into the game full of confidence.

"We’re satisfied," said Ebbsfleet manager Daryl McMahon. "We’ve started well.

"It would have been nice to win the Weston game as well, to get us the extra three points (that game was abandoned) but we’re pleased with what we’ve done so far."

Maidenhead finished 18th last season but they’re a different proposition in 2015/16 under
former Braintree boss Alan Devonshire.

McMahon said: "They’re a good side. Dev knows the league well and they’ll be a dark horse. I fancy them to be in the play-offs this year.

"It will be a tough game. They’ve brought in Ben Wright from Havant, who is a good striker.

"Harry Pritchard’s always been a good player, he plays left-back or left-wing and he’s a handful. Dave Tarpey, coming off the left-hand side, nicks goals as well."

McMahon faces another selection dilemna after several players shone over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Matt Godden and Danny Haynes came off the bench to score against Whitehawk on Saturday but Jordan Parkes netted the winner at Dartford on Monday while striker Adam Cunnington is still waiting for his first start of the season.

McMahon said: "It’s hard. You’ve got Adam who came on for 10 minutes and ran the line well, Haynes is always a handful when he comes on and these players want to play.

"They don’t want to play for 15 or 20 minutes, they want to start.

"Throughout the season, I’m sure the team will change. It’s different horses for different
courses."
