Tonbridge 3 Ebbsfleet 2 pre-season friendly

Tonbridge edged out Ebbsfleet in an entertaining pre-season friendly at Longmead on Tuesday night.

The teams seemed to relish the wet conditions and there were five goals for the 355 fans to enjoy.

Angels got the better of it, having led 2-0 at one stage they were indebted to a late winner.

Ebbsfleet threatened in the opening minute when Anthony Cook's right-foot shot was turned over the bar by Angels keeper James Behan.

Fleet enjoyed plenty of possession but were closed down high up the field by Tonbridge, who fielded new signing Chris Kinnear Jnr as part of a three-man midfield.

Cook went close with another long-range attempt that Behan turned over while Sean Shields cut inside and shot narrowly wide of the upright from 20 yards.

Tonbridge went ahead in the 29th minute when a Luke Blewden long throw-in was touched on by Nathan Elder and Andre McCollin flicked the ball home from close range beyond Fleet keeper Jon Miles.

Neither team made any half-time changes and it was Tonbridge who added a second goal just before the hour with a stunning strike by a player named only on the team sheet as a trialist.

Fleet substitute Darren McQueen pulled a goal back two minutes later, his right-foot shot from the edge of the box proving too good for Behan.

The visitors levelled the scores with 15 minutes when Danny Kedwell fired home from close range.

Tonbridge regained their lead just four minutes from time when Alex Akrofi's effort was deflected for Dan Thompson to nod home from close range.
