Man arrested after officer injured in Higham chase

Kent PoliceA 31-year-old man appeared at Medway Magistartes Court today after a policewoman was injured following a high-speed chase through the streets of Rochester and Higham.

The policewoman was treated at Medway Maritime Hospital for bruising and later released.

Jonathan Cooper, of Sundridge Drive, Chatham, who was arrested on Monday August 23, was charged with:

  • Dangerous driving
  • Causing injury through wanton/furious driving (offences against the person)
  • Driving with no insurance
  • Taking a vehicle without consent
  • Failing to stop for police
  •  Failing to report an accident
  • Making off without payment at Somerfield petrol station, City way, Rochester.

Cooper was remanded in custody and will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday September 1.
