Paedophile alert on web stranger danger campaign

Parents in north Kent worried about attempted child abductions have set up a Facebook group

Paedophiles have been tapping into an online “stranger danger” campaign set up following a series of attempted child abductions in Gravesend, organisers say.

Parents in charge of the pressure group on social networking website Facebook say they have banned about 20 users after becoming suspicious of their profile pictures and messages posted.

They say they have traced some of them to other Facebook pages and groups with suspicious content.

Their campaign group, Keep the School Children of Kent Safe, started in response to alerts a man in a silver car had been approaching children as young as eight on their way to and from schools.

It wants schools to adopt its ONE Rule - One incident, Notify Everyone.

I agree with the above post. My child attends school in gravesend, and I was annoyed that we have had no letter home to inform us, and we have only found out by people talking to each other up the school.

Thanks to Jacquie our school has been brilliant and sent home letters and advice, the parents have been fantastic making sure children that are known to walk home alone are accompanied. People really pull together when they need to and its nice to see. I am so gratefull to Jacquie, Lee and Natalie that are working so hard on this campagin, without them most parents would still be in the dark about these indcidents or would only hear the rumours and not actual facts! I think they are doing a fantastic job, so are the police its a shame that the KCC are not taking this as seriously as the rest of us and correcting their flawed protcol without a fight! I hope that with all the support that this goup is getting it helps Jacquie, Lee and Natalie achieve all that they have set out to change, GOOD LUCK LADIES!!!

Singlewell School where my daughter attends, has been absolutely fantastic. Without the need for me having to contact her, she has already advised the parents, by way of letter, spoken to all the children raising awareness in a sensitive manner to their understanding capabilties. She has also taken the opportunity to take steps to advise parents of some vital issue on internet safety. I am so pleased that my daughter has received this level of care during her school hours. BIG THANKYOU TO MRS BROWN AND SINGLEWELL SCHOOL!!! I know there are many others schools that have adopted this approach aswell, however I find it appalling that some havent. I cannot understand why? I cannot understand what the problem is with them doing so.
