Woman fights for her life after crash in New Barn

A woman is fighting for her life following a serious road crash in Longfield Avenue, New Barn.

The 60-year-old pedestrian, who has not been named, was rushed to hospital by air ambulance after the collision.

She suffered serious head injuries and her condition is described as "critical but stable".

Police were called to Longfield Avenue, near its junction with Foxwood Way, at about 1.30pm yesterday (Monday) and closed the road for more than seven hours, until 9pm.

A man in his 30s and from Luton, who was driving the white Ford Transit van involved in the collision, was not injured.

Kent Police's serious crash investigation unit has launched an investigation into the crash.

Detective Sergeant Miles Bishop said: "We believe there may well be a number of people who witnessed the collision and have information which could help with our inquiries. I would urge them to come forward as soon as possible."
