Rail delays after man hit by train near Gravesend

A man remains in a critical condition today after
being hit by a train near Gravesend station.
The 25-year-old suffered serious injuries after
being struck at about 5.20pm yesterday.
The man, from Gravesend, was taken to a London hospital with
life-threatening injuries.
His condition was today described as critical, but stable.
All high-speed services out of London St Pancras were cancelled
for several hours yesterday.
Train passengers faced heavy long journeys on other
Southeastern services that suffered delays until about 10.30pm.
British Transport Police are now investigating the incident.
A spokesman said: "BTP officers attended Gravesend rail station
on Sunday, 16 December following a report that a man had been
struck by a train.
"Officers from Kent Constabulary also attended the incident,
which was reported to BTP at 5.23pm and is currently being treated
as non-suspicious.
"Medics from South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended,
and a 25-year-old man from Gravesend was taken to hospital with
life-threatening injuries.
"The man currently remains in hospital where his condition is
described as critical but stable."
