Traffic flowing again following A2 car blaze near Darenth Interchange

Car fire on the A2

Traffic on the A2 was brought to a standstill earlier after firefighters put a 200m cordon in place around a burning car.

It meant both carriageways were closed between the Bluewater turn-off and the Darenth Interchange as fire crews fought the blaze between 10am and 11am.

Traffic is now flowing again - a spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said no one was injured in the fire but crews put the cordon in place amid fears surrounding the petrol tank.
