A teenager has made it into the notoriously secretive,
exclusive Magic Circle – one of just 1,500 members globally.
Henri White, 19, from Shorne, passed an exam to join the UK's
top magic club.
The former Gravesend Grammar School pupil said: "It was a
terrifying but thrilling. Due to an event in the normal club room
that night, they moved my exam upstairs to the main theatre.
"If that wasn’t enough pressure, my judges were all magic
heavyweights, including Michael Vincent, who fooled Penn and Teller
on their ITV show last year."
Henri performed a complex act involving some intricate sleight
of hand. The surprise finale saw a spectator's signed playing card
magically transported inside a factory-sealed bottle of fizzy
drink.
At 19, Henri, who has performed for London mayor Boris Johnson,
is one of the club’s youngest ever members.
Henri, who grew up in the See Ho pub in Pear Tree Lane, Shorne,
also juggles clubs, knives and fire; rides a unicycle; and is a
classically trained pianist.
