Trial date set for Lee Webster accused of causing death of Jason Wood

Maidstone Crown Court

A man accused of causing the death of a 30-year-old is to stand trial at Maidstone Crown Court later this year.

Lee Webster, of Dover Road East, Gravesend, denied the manslaughter of Jason Wood and administering a poison or noxious substance - a quantity of mirtazapine anti-depressant tablets - as to endanger life or inflict grievous bodily harm.

Mr Wood, a dwarf, died at an address in Camden Square, Ramsgate, on October 22 last year.

Steven McNamara, 27, of Camden Square, admitted perverting the course of justice by suggesting the disposal of an empty medicine bottle.

He will be sentenced after 26-year-old Webster’s trial on May 25. Both men were remanded in custody.

Judge Philip Statman ordered reports on McNamara, but said it would only help him with the length of the prison sentence to be imposed.
