Snow showers

St George's Church, GravesendNorth Kent awoke to snow showers this morning, causing delays for commuters.

The A2 London-bound was slow from the Cobham turn-off at around 8am but passable. Other roads were clear despite short flurries.

The Met Office forecast for the rest of the day is snow at times across southern areas of England, with a risk of more prolonged and perhaps heavy snow across Kent and East Sussex later. Gales may develop along the coast and the maximum temperature is 2C.

There's a further chance of light spells of snow tonight with temperatures down to -3C.

Tomorrow is expected to be cloudy with outbreaks of light snow at first but then dry and and sunny. Maximum temperature 4C.

  • Emergency services were called to Crooked Lane, Gravesend, at around 8.30am today after a woman collapsed. A passer-by saw her fall to the floor and an ambulance was called.
