Dan Snelgrove presenting on Gravesham TV
From pulling pints at the Three Daws in Gravesend to entertaining millions on Radio 4, Dan Snelgrove is a man of many talents.
When he’s not hosting on Gravesham council’s internet television show, he’s clowning around in comedy punk band Monkish.
Other days he's singing in his new acoustic comedy duo with mate David Moore.
Dan, 33, can currently be heard on Radio 4 Extra comedy series Colin Hoult’s Carnival of Monsters, a character-based sketch show airing Monday nights at 10.30pm.
The former Gravesend Grammar School pupil, who stars alongside award-winning comedian Colin Hoult and Zoe Gardner, said: “There’s a quote out there which describes it as Lewis Carroll meets The League of Gentlemen.
“It comes originally from an Edinburgh show, actually a trilogy of shows, and this is essentially them amalgamated together.”
Dan, who also attended Riverview primary, first met Colin whilst skiving from studying physics at Leeds University - finding the theatre considerably more interesting.
He continued: “Consequentially I didn’t do well in physics but one of my best friends on the course was Kat and after university she met someone who then became her husband and that was Colin.
"He’d seen the band and seen me mucking about on stage and he said he could do with a clown in his own show and they thought of me.”
The radio show is written by Colin and workshopped before being recorded and going out on air.
There are hopefully plans for it to transfer over to television.
You may even have spotted Dan and Colin on Russell Howard's Good News on BBC Three performing an extract of Carnival of Monsters.
You can catch Colin Hoult’s Carnival of Monsters on Radio 4 Extra on Monday at 10.30pm and on the iPlayer.
Dan and David perform regularly at The Middle Ei8ht on West Street and check out Monkish here.
