No encore for Cheryl as she battled it out to win cash for chYps
Cheryl Fergison performed on Your Face Sounds Familiar
There was no encore for Cheryl Fergison as the chYps ambassador bowed out in the final of Your Face Sounds Familiar.
Cheryl channelled her inner pop super star for her last appearance on the ITV charity talent constest, belting out performances of Cher’s hit The Shoop Shoop Song and Adele’s love ballad Someone Like You.
But it was Emmerdale actress Natalie Anderson who won the show’s grand finale on Saturday night with her renditions of Mariah Carey’s Without You and Jessie J’s Domino.
Despite not winning the final, the former EastEnder has raised over £10,000 for north Kent charity chYps and remained chirpy the morning after the show.
She said: “I’m naturally very disappointed not to have won the jackpot for chYps as I know how much the money is needed to help provide vital hospice care to very poorly children in my local area.
"I’ve met many of the nurses and young patients so have seen first-hand the wonderful work that they do.
“But I’m still very chuffed to have won chYps something and I’m glad that I could help raise the charity’s profile on a national level. It’s been an amazing experience and one I will never forget.”
The other unlucky finalists included Alex Armstrong who donned a wig for his performance as Susan Boyle and later Frank Sinatra while Matt Johnson took to the stage as Bruce Springsteen and Robbie Williams.
When voting, 15p of every vote is split among chYps and the five other celebrity charities.
Director of Fundraising at chYps Rachel Holweger said: “Our families, staff and volunteers have thoroughly enjoyed tuning in each week to see Cheryl strut her stuff on the stage.
"We are very lucky to have her support and are very proud of all she has achieved for us. £10,000 will still go a long way and we look forward to working on vital fundraising projects with her in the future.”
