Gravesend claim bonus point win against fellow National League 3 London & South East strugglers Staines

Gravesend ran in four late tries to claim a
37-15 win at Staines on Saturday.
The bonus-point victory lifted them out of the National League 3
London & South East relegation zone.
Injury problems again hit the Gravesend side, as they sought a
morale-boosting win over the division’s basement team.
Included in the Gs party was veteran prop Ethan
White as they struggled to fill up their squad. And White was
called upon early on as Charlie Cutting left the field with a
broken collar bone.
Before Cutting’s exit Gravesend were 7-0 ahead when Will
Meddings touched down and brother Chris added the extras.
Staines scored a penalty before the break to reduce the
deficit.
David McMurtrie added his own penalty in the second half but the
hosts closed the gap to two points with a try.
Another McMurtrie penalty made it 13-8 to Gravesend but that
lead was wiped out by a converted try.
But in the final quarter Gravesend rallied and won it with tries
from Scott Curley, Ashley Moorey (2) and Adam Bishop.
