Matt Walker has paid tribute to Geraint Jones ahead of a
benefit match for the Kent wicketkeeper at Gravesend Cricket
Club.
Former Kent star Walker has put together a side including
Michael Carberry and David Masters to take on Jones, pictured,
and his XI in a Twenty20 game on Sunday (2pm).
Gravesend-born Walker, now a coach at Essex, said: "I’m looking
forward to the game, it will be nice to see a lot of old faces.
"Geraint was one of the sensible ones during my time at Kent. I
definitely wasn’t!
"I remember him turning up as a trialist at a 2nd XI game at
Taunton and you could tell straight away what a good player he
was."
Jones’ XI is expected to feature Kent captain Rob Key, James
Tredwell, Darren Stevens, Sam Billings and Sam Northeast.
Proceeds from the game will be shared between Jones’ benefit
fund and Gravesend CC.
