Gravesend ended a run of four straight league defeats by
comfortably seeing off bottom placed Staines on Saturday.
Gs ran in seven unanswered tries during the National League 3
London & South East fixture.
The hosts had to repel some early pressure from Staines but went
ahead when Adam Bishop opened the scoring.
Chris Meddings converted and with half an hour gone, Ashley
Moorey touched down with the second try of the afternoon. Meddings
again kicked the extras.
Good hands led to Bishop’s second try and Meddings maintained
his 100% strike rate, as he converted to give Gs a 21-0 lead at
half-time.
Staines had a man sin-binned early in the second half and Gs
capitalised, with Jamie Forsyth going over for a converted try, to
extend the lead to 28 points.
Big tackles from Gravesend kept Staines out and Dave McMurtrie
started and finished a move that led to try number five, this time
going unconverted.
Nathan Moorey ran in the sixth try before McMurtrie went over
for the final time to complete the 47-0 victory for Gravesend.
