Gravesend fightback is in vain as Tonbridge Juddians take the derby spoils in National League 3 London & South East

Rugby stock

Tonbridge Juddians took the derby spoils on Saturday, despite a second-half fightback by Gravesend.

The west Kent side opened the scoring when hooker Kevin Corrigan crossed for a try which Dan Hawkes converted.

Tom Nabbs went over for a second TJs score and although the conversion was missed, Hawkes kicked a penalty to leave Gravesend trailing 15-0 at the interval.

A try from Charlie Harding made it 20-0 but the Gs got themselves on the scoreboard when Jamie Forsyth went over for their first try. Dave McMurtrie added the extras.

Chris Meddings then converted a Marc Klus try and, although Gravesend were unable to save themselves from defeat, they did at least pick up a bonus point.

That leaves them five clear of the drop zone in National 3 London & South East with four games remaining. TJs, meanwhile, sit fifth in the table.
