American SpeedFest heading for Brands Hatch
Sir Chris Hoy made his motor racing debut in the Radical SR1 Championship at Brands Hatch last weekend where the American SpeedFest event takes centre stage on Sunday.
Brands Hatch will be flying the Stars and Stripes on Sunday as they host their inaugural American SpeedFest event.
The Euro-Racecar NASCAR Touring Series will be headlining the racing around the Indy circuit.
On-track demonstrations from genuine NASCAR cars will also be entertaining the crowds, who won’t be short of places to fill up as the circuit’s restaurants will be offering a ‘Taste of the States’. There will also be a hot-dog eating competition.
A 2009 Jeff Gordon-liveried NASCAR Sprint Cup machine and an ex-Kasey Kahne Nationwide car will be out to wow the crowds.
Brands this week also took delivery of two new Chevrolet Camaros, which will be used as pace cars during the day.
Elsewhere, there will be action from the Pickup Truck Racing Championship, the Legends Cars Cup from France and the iconic Mustangs, Falcons and Corvettes from Bernie’s Historic V8 Racing Association.
There will also be a monster-truck demonstration, along with plenty of off-track American-style entertainment.
Motion Picture Motors car club will be showcasing many stunning pieces of automotive movie history, ranging from the Starsky and Hutch’s Ford Torino, General Lee’s Dodge Charger from the Dukes of Hazzard and the black Pontiac Firebird from Knight Rider.
Last weekend was all about the best of British, as GB’s most successful Olympian, Sir Chris Hoy, made his racing debut.
Hoy was competing in the Radical SR1 Cup, which formed part of the MSVR weekend.
From a field of 21 drivers Hoy, who recently retired from competitive cycling, qualified sixth and finished fifth in both races.
Colin Noble Junior was the main man during racing itself, as he won both 24-lap SR1 events.
