Blackburn Rovers 0 Charlton Athletic 1
An early volley from Simon Church secured Charlton's first away win of the season on Saturday.
The former Reading striker, fresh from scoring the winner for Wales against Macedonia last week, struck in the seventh minute to give the Addicks a 1-0 victory at Championship rivals Blackburn.
He controlled a Dale Stephens pass on his chest and beat Jake Kean for the only goal of the game.
Addicks goalkeeper Ben Hamer made a superb fingertip save from a Jordan Rhodes volley, while Jason Lowe went close with a deflected effort.
Church might have added a second but headed Bradley Pritchard's cross straight at Kean.
Addicks boss Chris Powell, whose side moved two points clear of the bottom three in 20th place, said: "Goalscorers and strikers want to be out there and I just felt Church would add that for us. I'm really pleased for him.
"We've analysed all the games and felt we needed to get back to basics a little bit because you can't just go out there and think you're going to win any game. You have to earn the right."
