'Anti-social' driver's car seized by police

KENT Police officers have seized a Rover 216 car spotted being driven anti-socially at night by a teenager in a seaside town.

The car was seen speeding and swerving in Central Parade at Herne Bay.

Behind the wheel was an 18-year-old man from Herne Bay. Police revealed that the car had been the subject of a previous warning in April 2005.

Action was taken under section 59 of the Police Reform Act that gives police the power to seize any vehicles being driven anti-socially after one warning.

To have the car returned, the driver will have to pay costs for removal and storage of the vehicle or it will be disposed of.

Police spokesman Michael Ivatt said: "The 18-year-old driver was also cautioned for careless driving."
