No one was injured in the fire and all the occupants were accounted for by fire crews and Red Cross volunteers.

It is believed the fire, which broke out at around 11.15pm, started in a chip pan which had caught fire with flames quickly spreading throughout the rest of the house.

Crews used breathing apparatus, hose reel jets and a ventilation fan to tackle the fire.

The kitchen and first floor were 50% destroyed by the fire, Kent Fire and Rescue Service said.
