The main road through Herne is to be closed for up to five days.

The A291 Canterbury Road between School Lane and Chapel Row was shut today for sewer connection works.

Diversions have been signposted and motorists have been urged to leave extra time for their journeys.

The 6 and Triangle bus routes from Herne Bay to Canterbury have also been affected.

There will be no service between School Lane, Herne and Eddington Lane and an hourly shuttle service is operating between Canterbury bus station and Albion Lane.
