Darren Selby charged with alleged samurai sword attack in Charles Street, Herne Bay

A man has appeared in court today charged with causing grievous bodily harm after an alleged samurai sword attack in Herne Bay.

It is said to have happened at a property Charles Street on June 1 when a 27-year-old suffered a severe hand injury. An 18-year-old woman was also hurt.

A 46-year-old woman was arrested on Saturday, June 3, on suspicion of assault and released pending further information.

Yesterday Darren Selby, 41, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

He appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court today and was remanded in custody to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on Friday, July 14.
