Herne Bay joint boss John Embery has warned his players to be on their game against two of Bostik South’s strugglers.

Bay host Guernsey on Saturday (1pm) and travel to Molesey on Tuesday who are 19th and 23rd respectively.

Embery’s side come off the back of five games in 11 days to catch up with games.

He said: “They are potential banana skins. If we do not play well, anyone can beat you in this league and it’s about turning up with the right attitude. It takes its toll playing so many games. Some of the lads have tough manual labour jobs and are having to play a lot of games.

“If they play like they did on Tuesday night against Carshalton, then they won’t have any problems.”

Bay conceded a late goal against Carshalton Athletic to lose 2-1, which saw their opponents go top.

On Saturday they travelled to Shoreham and came away with a 1-0 win despite some tired legs.

Embery said of Tuesday’s game: “We should have won. Against the good sides we have done well this season.

“They are a good side and have good shape but we coped with that well. In the second half, we were by far the better side.

“Carshalton’s manager said we were one of the best sides they have faced all season as we beat them at their place and they nicked it here.

“Against Shoreham, we were able to dictate the game but if we would have played a better side we could have been beaten heavily.”
