Hythe fire station beats Hythe Albion Social Club in annual charity cricket match

Firefighters celebrated regaining the trophy at a charity cricket match on Saturday.

The annual clash between crews from Hythe fire station and the Hythe Albion Social Club has been going for over 20 years.

This year, the firefighters got back the winners trophy after two years with a score of 143 to 97.

The match was played on the South Road sports ground where there was also a barbecue.

Afterwards, it was back to the social club for a raffle and disco.

Fire station watch manager Dave White said that £1,000 was raised which will be split between the national Fire Fighters Charity and Demelza House children’s hospice.
