Car driver in his 90s taken to William Harvey Hospital after collision with van on A259 Dymchurch Road at Hythe

A man in is 90s was thought to have fallen ill at the wheel before his car crashed into a van.

The car was in collision with the stationary van on the A259 Dymchurch Road at Hythe just before 1.20pm today.

A South East Coast Ambulance Service spokesman said: “It is thought he potentially suffered a medical event prior to the collision.

“He was initially assessed and treated at the scene and was found to have a reduced level of consciousness and cuts to the head.’’

The victim was taken by land ambulance to Ashford’s William Harvey Hospital.

Two ambulances and a paramedic’s car were called to the scene.

Kent Police said that the road was partially blocked but flowing freely by 2.45pm.
