Hythe goalkeeper Dan Eason is going nowhere after signing a contract which will keep him at Reachfields for the 2014-15 season.

Eason was a target for several other Kent clubs, so Town boss Tim Dixon was thrilled when the former Herne Bay man decided to put pen to paper on a one-year deal.

Dixon said: "Dan signed a contract after the game (against Ashford United) on Saturday. We’ve tied him down and he’s obviously a decent goalkeeper.

"There was interest shown in him and it would have been no good to start the season and your top goalkeeper gets taken away after a seven-day approach. This allows him to concentrate on being our No.1 goalkeeper, to concentrate on his football.

"It’s not so much me, it’s a compliment to the football club in general. Dan enjoyed his football last year and although the team is slightly different, and people have moved on, he’s got Craig Cloke with him and James Morrish, who he’s friends with.

"He’s built relationships and he’s got Laurence Harvey in front of him now. It’s a good back-four and he’s got to be comfortable knowing what’s in front of him.

"He’s happy and he’s a smashing lad. He’s a good character to have around the place."
