Hythe Town are hoping to sign a fourth striker by the time they kick-off the new season at home to Burgess Hill Town on Saturday.

The arrival of Sam Conlon and Jordan Wells last week bolstered a Town frontline which previously comprised just Craig Thompson.

But Hythe boss Tim Dixon and his assistant Darren Beale are looking to complete a quartet of centre-forwards in the next few days.

Beale said: "There are still places available. Ideally, we’re looking for another forward and we’re still in talks with another couple.

"We’re hoping for something by midweek but if we wait another couple of weeks, so be it. But a forward is definitely someone we need to bring in.

"When you look around, a lot of clubs have taken on big squads for pre-season and we’ve already had a couple of phone calls from players saying it’s not quite worked out or they’ve not been offered anything or they’re not getting the minutes they want."

Saturday's game at Reachfields kicks-off at 3pm and Hythe then visit Herne Bay on Tuesday.
