An butchers from Ash has been voted one of the runners up in the Taste of Kent awards.

They were nominated by their customers who picked them as the best butchers in the county.

Out of 64 entrants Chandler and Dunn made it to the top three finalists and were then judged by a secret shopper who made the ultimate decision, crowning Court Farm Butchery and Country Larder, in Upper Halling as the winner.

Alice Dunn, shop manager said: “Unfortunately we didn’t win the category but feel that being top three out of such a large starting group and being customer voted is an achievement in itself.

“We have been functioning as Goldstone Butchers Chandler and Dunn Ltd for over 12 years now and have come a long way from being open a couple of afternoons a week in a portacabin, to where we are now, with a fully functioning shop facility on the farm and a mobile market trailer.

“We produce our own beef and lamb on the farm and source local pork, all of which is slaughtered at J.R Farm Meats at Adisham.”

Tony Donolly, the market manager, has helped them to promote their recent achievement and is proud that Chandler and Dunn have been attending the market for over six years.

On Thursday, the Mayor came to visit the market and congratulate Chandler and Dunn on the great achievement and praised their locally sourced produce.
