The team behind the Kent Messenger today scooped a top award at a prestigious ceremony.

The newspaper won the prize for weekly newspapers above 20,000 circulation at the Regional Press Awards.

Cheers rang out as the industry’s most prestigious annual awards were handed out at the Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel in London.

Judges hailed the Kent Messenger as “adventurous and fearless.”

Speaking after the awards, KM Group editorial director Ian Carter said: "It's a great achievement in the face of some really strong competition and one everyone in the team should be proud of."
