Hobbs Parker Car Auctions in Ashford sees 20% increase in trading in first six months of the year

It’s boom time for Ashford-based Hobbs Parker Car Auctions.

Six months into 2015 and the company says it has seen a 20% increase in its trading figures compared with the same period in 2014, in itself the group’s most successful trading year to date.

Managing director Jon Chapman says the company has been implementing plans through the last 18 months to expand the auction business, including the recruitment of Stuart Ryan in May last year as business development manager.

Mr Chapman said: “We have enjoyed a shift in focus at our weekly Wednesday auctions, which are now primarily dedicated to sales direct from regional showrooms.

"For buyers, this translates into more choice and consistently newer and better-quality vehicles.”

“Car showrooms would much rather be showcasing their latest models than using up space with non-franchise part-exchanges...” - Stuart Ryan, Hobbs Parker Car Auctions

Disposing of redundant cars can be a problem for many businesses – from larger car dealerships with quantities of part-exchanges to small to medium-sized companies with just a few leased cars or vans.

Mr Ryan said: “One of the headaches for clients is storing or transporting stock that needs to be sold.

"We are able to collect, transport and deal with all the necessary documentation quickly. We can even valet if needed.

“Getting cars off site and away from forecourts offers better security and frees up valuable space.

Based at Ashford Market, Hobbs Parker Car Auctions started selling cars in 1945, when there was a shortage of new cars, and is now the largest independent auction business in the South East.

As well as twice-weekly car auctions, Hobbs Parker holds specialist themed sales monthly.

There will be a vintage tractor and classic car auction today and there’s another big auction on Monday, August 31.
