A venue in Kent beat off competition from Stamford Bridge and Emirates Stadium to lift the trophy at an awards.

Kent Event Centre at the Kent Showground in Detling won Best Venue Under 10,000sqm at the Exhibition News Awards.

Bosses celebrated in front of 900 industry professionals as it was praised for opening its new £2.4 million exhibition hall, helping it to increase sales by more than 9%.

Event Centre manager Alison Wallington said: “We are delighted to have won an Exhibition News Award for our venue.

“The awards are voted for by our peers which makes the accolade even more special.”
