Golden Arrow pub in Sandgate undergoes £313,000 revamp

A pub’s new owners promise it will be “unrecognisable” when it reopens next month after a £313,000 revamp.

The Golden Arrow in Enbrook Valley, which has been the local for many residents in the Cheriton and Sandgate areas for decades, is set to reopen on Wednesday, July 20, at 6pm after undergoing a transformation.

New furniture will be added, along with fixtures and fittings, including an updated kitchen and toilets. The front will have a new sign and lighting.

Gary Maxwell, who has taken over the pub, said: “I’ve worked in the pub industry for some time and to have the opportunity to run The Golden Arrow is one I couldn’t miss.

“I have family connections with the Golden Valley and still have family living in the area.

“I’m really looking forward to putting it back on the map as the place to go for a warm welcome and a great time.”

Sports and entertainment is said to heavily feature with new screens and a projector being installed.

The money is being pumped into the premises by national pub operator Punch.

Spokesman for Punch Richard Wennington said: “The slate is being wiped clean at The Golden Arrow and it will be unrecognisable when it reopens.”
