Dame Vivienne Westwood officially opened a cafe and showed her support for the East Kent Reality Party in Ramsgate.

The fashion designer arrived in the party’s double-decker bus and cut the ribbon in front of the Evolution Cafe in King Street.

The cafe serves organic food grown on local allotments and has been funded by Ms Westwood's son Joe Corré after an approach by South Thanet election candidate Nigel Askew.

Ms Westwood said: “This cafe is a brilliant idea and I can’t believe it’s only just being opened.

“It’s running well and it’s really attractive, such a wonderful concept for the community and people getting together."

Ms Westwood expressed strong words against government and believes that a vote for Nigel Askew is the right choice in South Thanet.

She said: "The main political parties are all criminals, they squeeze the poor and suck up profits for the banks.

"I’m supporting the Green Party but particularly down here I’m supporting the We Are The Reality Party because I think people have to vote for the party they believe in because there’s no point in voting for the criminals.

“They are just going to carry on wrecking the planet, people’s lives, telling lies and committing crimes against humanity.

“We’re facing mass extinction even within a generation and this is being kept from us by the criminals and so I’m here to say don’t think about voting for any of them they are all the same."

Ms Westwood warned the South Thanet voters against voting for Ukip.

She added: “If we can get Nigel (Askew) in that would be absolutely brilliant because he’s against everything.

“I say things because I’m an activist and I am amazed at how many people agree with me.

“It is in the air and not reflected in the newspapers because they are the kind of jokers and illusionists helping the criminals to get their lies across.

“If Nigel Farage gets in here or if Conservatives do - it doesn’t make any difference whatsoever because they are all the same criminals.

“Immigration has become the topic and everyone has hooked on and it’s a total trick because the criminals know it is an emotional button in some areas, not everywhere by any means.”
