DFDS Seaways has had its offer rejected to save 202 MyFerryLink jobs "without any prior contact".

The proposal was made to the administrators of SCOP Seafrance last Thursday.

The SCOP employ 570 on-board crew members for MyFerryLink.

If the offer was accepted, hundreds of employees would still be without a job.

A statement from DFDS said: "DFDS has had no response to this offer and is surprised by the apparent unwillingness of the SCOP Seafrance administrators to engage in a dialogue with DFDS.

"We regret the position taken by the administrators, but remains at the disposal of the Commercial Court of Boulogne to discuss a transfer of parts of the SCOP Seafrance business in order to minimize the social impact of the potential liquidation of SCOP Seafrance."

The rejection does not affect the bareboat charters between DFDS and the Eurotunnel Group, which includes the purchase of vessels Rodin and Berlioz from tomorrow.
