Rock House, Marine Parade, Sheerness, put up for sale

A historic building in Sheerness is to go under the hammer at auction.

Rock House in Marine Parade is a Grade II-listed site.

It is believed it was built in 1816 by the Alston family and was once the headquarters of the Cheyne Rock Oyster Company.

More recently it has been divided into flats, but auctioneers Clive Emson say it is suitable for a variety of uses subject to planning consent. The freehold guide price is £190,000 or over.

Auction valuer Dave Henwood said: “This historic building provides extensive accommodation over three floors and stands on a plot extending to 0.2 acres.

“Outside there are walled gardens to the front and rear with easy access to the seafront.”

The property, which neighbours the Isle of Sheppey Sailing Club, is up for sale next month.
