High Definition music festival at the Hop Farm in Paddock Wood cancelled

A festival set to draw thousands of music lovers to the Hop Farm has been cancelled with just three weeks to go.

High Definition was due to take place over September 5 and 6, featuring big names in dance music including Gorgon City, Pendulum and DJ Luck and MC Neat.

But this week it emerged that the festival had been pulled over licensing issues.

The organisers of the gig are said to have failed to provide the necessary paperwork in time.

But it is understood they are seeking alternative premises.

A statement from the venue said: "It is with deep regret that The Hop Farm has to announce the cancellation of HD festival.

"We understand that this has caused disappointment amongst fans, ticket holders and of course ourselves, but unfortunately The Hop Farm was left in a position where its event licence was in serious jeopardy.

"The Hop Farm has a good relationship (and works closely) with the Council and nearby residents to provide responsible events and in doing so it keeps within the parameters set out in its licence."

Organisers had already made last minute changes to the date and venue, moving the event to Paddock Wood from Eridge Park in Tunbridge Wells, where it had been booked for July 4 and 5.

Ticket holders are being asked to contact the seller about refunds, not the venue.

But they were still available to buy on the festival website this morning.

The festival had billed the Hop Farm show as its biggest production to date to celebrate its fifth birthday.

In the past it has attracted crowds of 40,000 revellers.

No-one from High Definition replied to Kent Online's request for comment.
