Nando's at Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre reopened its doors after a temporary closure yesterday (Thursday) because of a leaking roof.

The Portuguese chicken chain opened their new branch last month as part of a multi-million pound extension at the centre which includes Subway, Costa, Dean’s Diner and Frankie and Benny’s.

There was a sign in the window apologising for any inconvenience caused to customers.

It read: “We are sorry to inform you that due to unforeseen circumstances we are unable to open today.

“We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

However, the eatery was only closed during the day and was able to reopen at about 5pm.

The restaurant, which opened only last month, is run by manager Jon Fenner, 30, and assistant manager, Olly Mutch, 27.

The new store can seat 136 people and is decorated with original lighting, artwork and decorations from African artists.

Speaking about the opening of the restaurant, regional manager, Keith Lloyd, said: “We’re delighted to be opening our new restaurant in Hempstead Valley.”

A Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre spokeswoman had said there had been a maintenance problem, so the store decided to close whilst their maintenance team fixed the issue.

We contacted Nandos for a comment about the closure, but at the time of publishing this story, the company had not responded.
