Trade Electricals Direct opens branch on Medway City Estate, Strood

An electrical goods supplier has opened a new branch on a business park, creating eight jobs.

Trade Electricals Direct (TED) has invested £150,000 in the new 2,500sq ft facility on the Medway City Estate in Strood – it’s first in Kent.

General manager Paul Chisnall said the opening was part of the firm’s expansion plans in London and the South East and “very important for the growth of the company”.

He said: “TED Commercial will also offer a service to local care homes and hospitality businesses by supplying, installing and servicing a range of highly specialist washing machines, dryers, glass and dish washers from the Miele Professional and Hobart ranges, together with vacuum cleaners from German manufacturer Sebo. Some of the washing machines can take loads up to 40kg.”

The new branch was opened by longstanding customer Simon Garrett-Tuffney from Dominion Business Supplies, also based on the estate.

He said: “We have been a happy customer for many years and having a branch on our door step is great news for us and other businesses in Kent.”

TED was launched by Hughes Electrical in 2010 and now has nearly 50 employees, with an annual turnover of £15m and operating from 14 locations across the country.
