American Eagle Outfitters and Le Creuset open stores in Bluewater taking total new openings since July to seven

A US retailer and French cookware manufacturer have opened new stores in Bluewater – the sixth and seventh brands to launch at the shopping centre since July.

American Eagle Outfitters unveiled its flagship store on Thursday, measuring 4,818 sq ft on the lower Thames Walk.

Meanwhile, pot maker Le Creuset has opened a 1,712 sq ft shop next to Jolie Papier’s UK debut store on the upper Rose Gallery.

In the last five months, the mall has attracted Steamer Trading Cookshop, Bill’s Restaurant, Rockar Hyundai, Card Factory and White Stuff.

The two newest additions are the latest of a number of international brands to come to the shopping centre this year, following Five Guys, Victoria’s Secret, Pink and adidas’ Homecourt store.

Land Securities portfolio director Russell Loveland said: “Le Creuset and American Eagle bring the number of international brands selecting Bluewater for new stores to eight so far this year.

“Each adds something different to Bluewater and reaffirms its position as a must-have destination for brands seeking a significant presence in the UK.

“The announcements are also timed perfectly for our conversations at MAPIC [the retail expo in Cannes, France] with other potential new entrants.”

The news follows with another strong month for Bluewater, with sales in October up by 4.5% compared to the same time last year. This is ahead of the 1.4% for the UK as a whole, according to BRC-KPMG.

CBRE acted for Bluewater while Reid Rose Gregory acted for Le Creuset.
