Gold medal-winning swimmer Duncan Goodhew will be telling business leaders about his life as an ambassador for a project encouraging youngsters to learn to swim this summer.

Duncan, who became a household name when he won a gold medal in the 100m breast stroke and bronze in the 4x10m medley relay at the 1980 Moscow Olympics, will be at the Kent branch of the Institute of Directors' business breakfast at the Kent County Show.

He will be there on Friday, July 11, speaking about his work with Southern Water’s Learn to Swim programme.

Kent IoD branch chairman, Emma Liddiard, said: “He is well remembered as a massive inspiration to many people and his drive and ambition in the world of sport can be, I am sure, replicated in business. He is a great addition to the big names we have had speak at past breakfasts and we look forward to hearing from him.

“We are also pleased that we can once again support the Kent County Show that promotes all that is good in our rural industries. We could not have done so without the sponsorship of Southern Water.”

The breakfast will be held in the new Maidstone Exhibition Hall at the Kent Showground in Detling, near Maidstone.

Tickets are available for members and non-members. For details call Lee Bennett on 01795 435918.
