Conversion work to The Panorama in Park Street, Ashford has been hit by delay after delay

A man says he is getting increasingly frustrated with the developers in charge of creating a new apartment block in Ashford’s town centre.

Those who have bought flats in The Panorama, in Park Street, have been left in limbo as to when they will be able to move in.

Work on the massive development, formally called Charter House, started in 2013, following the purchase of the nine-storey building by developers Dukelease Properties.

Earlier completion schedules included July and August 2014, and then January and April 2015.

In September this year, bosses said buyers of the 200 plus flats would be able to move in from this October.

However, with this date now gone, homeowners are now once again in the dark as to when they can set up home.

One purchaser, who has bought a flat on one of the top floors, said: “I’m getting deeply suspicious.

“I agreed to a flat, but for over a year I’ve just been waiting for something to happen.

“Their PR is rubbish, you never hear anything. I just don’t understand it.”

The man, who did not want to be named, paid his deposit in April 2014, but admits he has never stepped foot inside the buidling, adding: “I bought blind.”

He said he has not a heard a word since the October move in date was announced.

“Yet again, this has proved to be a false dawn and, yet again, neither explanation nor apology is offered,” he said.

“There is nothing but total silence. They do not communicate with their purchasers at all and their solicitors seem none the wiser.

“There doesn’t seem to be a lot of activity on site.”

Dukelease Properties has failed to respond to several requests from the Kentish Express for a comment.
