The Vineyard in Sittingbourne creates 10 jobs after £240,000 makeover

A refurbished pub has created 10 jobs.

Various positions from front of house bar to kitchen ones are available at The Vineyard, which has just undergone a £240,000 makeover.

To celebrate its new look and employment opportunities, customers and businesses were invited to a relaunch party at the watering-hole in West Street, Sittingbourne, last Thursday.

Vineyard general manager Ben Malyan and deputy Mayor of Swale Cllr Lesley Ingham cut a ribbon to mark the occasion.

Two days later staff dressed up in 1940s VE Day themed clothing to host a special one-off Armed Forces night that included live music and a wide selection of national and locally sourced cask ales on tap, which are regularly rotated to offer variety.

The pub, which is open daily from 10am, offers brunch options as well as traditional favourites such as hand-battered fish and chips or its gold award winning Cumberland sausages and mash.

A choice of lighter dishes, all under 500 calories, are also available.

In readiness for the busy autumn of sporting action, the pub will be upgrading its screens.

A new weekly schedule of entertainment has also seen the introduction of a rock and roll bingo night on Wednesdays and a quiz night every Thursday.

The premiership’s big games will be shown every Monday evening and Saturday afternoon, with Friday and Saturday nights devoted to DJ-led party nights.

Come Sundays customers can chill and enjoy a film and popcorn as part of its weekly film night.

Mr Malyan said: “As well as a refresh of the pub’s decor, furniture and facilities, the refurbishment is the perfect opportunity to bring in new entertainment ideas at the pub.

“We support our own football team, Vineyard FC, and are always welcome to hosting new sports and teams at the pub.”

The Vineyard closes at 11pm Sunday to Thursday and at 2am on Friday and Saturday.
