That is an average of 1,076 people per perfomance and meant the the auditorium was 92.5% full.

Sleeping Beauty, the 2012/13 panto, attracted more than 84,000 customers.

Marlowe Theatre director Mark Everett said: “It’s an impressive increase on our previous best pantomime, but I have to say, I’m not surprised.

“The number of people who saw Jack And The Beanstalkis testament to a fabulous and highly-entertaining show, brought to us once again by Evolution Productions, a top-rate cast – who received amazing reviews – and the hard work of everyone at The Marlowe.

“The show ran from 29 November, but right from the start of rehearsals, three weeks before this, there was a feeling in the building that we were on to something special and that this was the one.”
