Shepherd Neame wins award for Spitfire competition

Beer and pub company Shepherd Neame won a prize at a national awards for the second straight year.

The Faversham-based brewer was honoured for best use of competitions at the Beer Marketing Awards, for its Fly A Spitfire Campaign.

It offered a rare Battle of Britain experience, where trade customers and consumers could fly in a Tigermoth, Harvard or Spitfire.

The campaign highlighted its Spitfire ale, first brewed 25 years ago to honour the 50th anniversary of the air-battle over Kent’s skies during the Second World War.

It also raised over £25,000 for the RAF Benevolent Fund, thanks to the donations of thousands of customers.

The awards were held in London’s Brick Lane on September 8.

Last year, it won best broadcast advertising campaign in recognition of its Bottle of Britain TV adverts, starring comedians Alexander Armstrong and Ben Miller.
