Reynolds Retreat in Basted House, Borough Green given longer licensing hours on a trial basis by Tonbridge and Malling council

Plans to extend the licensing hours at a multi-million pound health spa have been approved on a trial basis.

The application asked for the bar and dining room at the Reynolds Retreat in Borough Green to remain open until 12.30am Monday to Friday and at weekends.

At a meeting on Wednesday Tonbridge and Malling councillors decided to grant an 18-month trial for the business, in Harrison Road’s Basted House.

Borough Green cllr Mike Taylor said a restriction should definitely be imposed so that any noise is “inaudible at the site boundary” as those leaving late at night could disturb neighbouring properties.

Cllr Jill Anderson, conservative member for Hadlow, Mereworth and West Peckham, said the 18 month trial was not an “unreasonable” agreement and said members should “see how Reynolds goes with the conditions.”

The council will assess the impact on neighbours throughout the trial period.
