The awards are billed as the “only premium awards programme which recognises and celebrates the exceptional performance and outstanding achievements of black entrepreneurs and professionals” in the UK.

The initiative, which has been running for three years, is endorsed by the Prime Minister Theresa May.

Melanie Eusebe, chair and co-founder of the Black British Business Awards, said: “From creative entrepreneurs to seasoned bankers, the BBBAwards continue to uncover a healthy pipeline of role models who are breaking through stereotypes and changing the game for UK industry.”

Former boxer and weightlifter Mr Reid takes 500 appointments each month and has been practicing sports massage for five years.

"My biggest inspiration are the deceased and the living heroes of the black community – be that in business, politics, art and revolution..." - Elliot Reid, Revitalize Clinic

He employs three health and fitness practitioners at his practice in Windmill Street, where prices start at about £30.

He is also trained in acupuncture and is a Master of Osteopathy, awarded from the British School of Osteopathy.

On his company website, he says: “I take out the gimmicks seen in many training regimes and implement research and information from industry leaders to progress my clients towards their individual goals.”

The 26-year-old, who lives in Parrock Street, said he was “greatly moved and inspired” after receiving his nomination.

Mr Reid said: “My biggest inspiration are the deceased and the living heroes of the black community – be that in business, politics, art and revolution.

“For myself and my business to be recognised by that community is probably the greatest compliment I could be given.”

The judging panel for the Black British Business Awards is chaired by Sophie Chandauka, executive director and chief administrative officer of Morgan Stanley’s legal and compliance division in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
