Hadlow College unveils state-of-the-art farming simulator at Kent Show

Agriculture and horticulture specialist Hadlow College has unveiled a state-of-the-art prototype it claims will "repaint the picture of farming".

By combining video game technology with a live simulation situation, the huge device - it measures eight metres by five metres - will be used by students learning land skills.

The prototype creates an environment in which students are transported into life-like farming scenarios for them to solve.

After going on display to the public during this weekend's Kent Show, it will be moved back to Hadlow College for use by students this September.

It forms part of its Vision50 campaign marking the college's half century.

Stuart Gibbons, chief steward for the food and farming area and director of the showground, said “This provides visitors to the show with a glimpse of what farming may be like in the future and the exciting career opportunities it can provide. We’re delighted to host its launch event and hope the general public find it as inspiring as we do.”

It will be on display during the weekend at the Maidstone Exhibition Hall.
