The venue for this year's black tie event is the newly refurbished Hythe Imperial Hotel. Our special guest is Gerald Ratner - the businessman who pushed the self-destruct button on a multi-million pound company. Gerald Ratner went down in business history when he gave a speech to an audience of 5,000 at an IoD conference in the early nineties. While sharing the secrets of his success he used some choice words about his products and went from being CEO of the world's largest jewellery company to nothing. That fateful speech gave rise to the term "Doing a Ratner".
