Getting Started and Progressing in Export or Impor

This course is designed as an in depth workshop and yet, only requires you to commit a morning rather than the usual full day. It will address a wide range of tips and procedures to deal with the many requirements that can occur with international trade situations.

The main outcomes for the exporter or importer will be:

Gaining a good working understanding of the trade process – Import, Export or Third Country trading as well as the documentary requirements

Understanding where to go for assistance, when required

Getting documents right first time

Getting more out of relationships with Freight Forwarders. Clearance Agents and other providers

Ensuring the exporter gets paid and the importer only pays when all is in order

You will leave with an understanding of:

The basic principles of exporting, importing, marine insurance and dealing with overseas agents, distributors or suppliers

The main forms of payment in international trade

The issuing, advising, confirming and negotiation process when using letters of credit
